My primary work at the NIH was developing and operating a visualization service for NIAID molecular biologists. Much of my work was for researchers at the NIAID Vaccine Research Centre (VRC). Here, crystallographers and biologists work to uncover the structure of viral spike proteins, to better develop vaccine candidates and antibody therapies. I would assist this research by designing and 3D printing models of these viral proteins, including HIV, Influenza, RSV, Zika, Ebola. The models I created facilitated scientific understanding of the 3D structure of the proteins by acting as objects of discussion. The work here that I am most proud of is creating a whole virion model of Influenza for VRC Director Barney Graham.
