This publication details methods for producing 3D printed molecular models from molecular databank files and volumetric microscopy datasets. It was completed with collaborators while I worked at the NIH, and published as an animated article in the Journal of Visualized Experiments. The article includes an extensive overview of visualization and 3D printing techniques unique to biomolecular models, and a discussion of the application of models in research and education.
